Artist Statement
My artistic journey began in the early 1970s in the scenic Mid-Hudson Valley of upstate New York, where the natural landscape, rich in color and texture, instilled in me a profound connection to the environment. This early immersion continues to influence and shape my creative practice today.
In 1997, I earned my B.F.A. in Painting, which marked the beginning of a diverse and multifaceted career in the arts. Over the years, I have worked as a Theatrical Scenic Artist, Gallerist, and Museum Manager. These roles have expanded my artistic vision and deepened my understanding of creative expression in various forms.
I am an active member of the Rocky Neck Art Colony and the North Shore Arts Association both in Gloucester, MA, Newburyport Art Association in Newburyport, MA, and The New England Experimental Art Group. My work is represented in both private and commercial collections.
Current Art Practice
My current work delves into the concept of “vanity,” reflecting on the fleeting nature of life, the inevitability of death, and the emptiness of material wealth. As I examine the impermanence of appearance and the futility of attempting to resist time and mortality through external means, I invite others not only to see but to feel and resonate with these ideas.
